Why Would I need testing if I feel okay and I eat well?

Eating correctly should be your #1 priority. The reality of today's lifestyle with highly processed, fast foods has made it difficult for anyone to eat a healthy diet every day. Even if you eat the "right foods," your body has to process (digest, absorb and metabolize) the foods into usable chemicals for you to function effectively.

Each of us is unique metabolically and bio chemically. As a result nutritional needs can vary significantly from one individual to another. Thus, you don't know if you are getting optimal nutrition until you get tested. Although sick people will get help if they feel "bad," so-called healthy people will live with a sub optimal nutrition state because they feel "okay." Most people have never experienced an optimal nutritional state because they have never done nutritional testing to correctly augment their nutrient intake.

What exactly are you testing for and why?

The urine analysis tests for the following key areas:

Nutritional Deficiencies.
Digestive System and Absorption.
Toxins in the body.

In addition, the urine test is a 24 hour collection which gives a picture of your body's function over time rather that just a point in time. A urine test is easy, accurate, convenient and can be done in the privacy of your own home.

Have these tests been scientifically validated?

These tests have been widely recognized in the scientific community as valid and reliable. We use the most advanced laboratory equipment and methods that science has to offer. Our lab has been using these tests reliably for years, primarily for nutritionally-oriented physicians who have sought nutritional and metabolic information to assist their patients in diagnosing problems, enhancing performance or taking preventive measures.

How does this urine analysis compare to a blood nutrition test?

There are several different blood tests for nutrition, which are all quite expensive. Most blood tests measure the level of certain nutrients in the blood (e.g., Vitamin E, Vitamin C, etc.). While this is useful to identify levels of those nutrients, it does not provide information about the utilization of the nutrient.

The urine analysis studies the by-products of cellular function of many systems in the body. This tells scientists how well the body's various systems are using the nutrients available to them. With that information and other pertinent data, individual needs, deficiencies and surpluses can be determined for various nutrient groups.

Is the test covered by insurance?

Most medical insurers do not cover nutritional testing. If your health insurance is wellness-oriented and, for example, covers health clubs, it might cover nutritional testing. (You will have to pursue reimbursement on your own.) Basically, you are paying out of pocket and investing in yourself. You are also ensuring that you will supplement with what you need, rather than the "hit or miss" approach of getting the average amounts which inevitably provides you with too much of what you don't need and too little of what you do.

Will I need to be retested?

We suggest that you retest every 3 months. When it is time to retest, an email notification will be sent you as a reminder. It is also suggested that if a major change in your personal situation occurs, you might want to retest after you have settled into your new routine for a few months.

How long does it take to get my results ?

It takes approx 10 days for your lab results to be available. When your report is ready, we will send an email notification to you or your doctor. The report is always online for later viewing.

How old must one be to use the program ?

You should be 18 years or older to use our program unless otherwise instructed by your doctor.

Can the testing be completed separate from purchase of products?

Yes, the testing can be completed separate from purchase of products, however, the test is specifically designed to provide information for the formulation of custom products.

Can vegetarians take your products ?

Our capsules are bovine (cow). You can open the capsule up and use the powder only e.g. in juice, yogurt or on bread.

Is the information from the test or questionnaire going to be used for anything else?

The test is not designed to be diagnostic or to treat any health condition. All information and test results are private and will be held in strict confidence.

Will consumption of alcohol be detected or affect the test results?

Do not drink any alcoholic beverage on the day of the test.

What period of time do the substances analyzed reflect in terms of past history? Is it days, weeks or months?

The substances which are analyzed in the urine analysis reflect processes that are ongoing and are quite stable over a period of several months. The substances can be changed through dietary manipulation, but it takes several months for those changes to show up in the metabolic end points that we are looking at.

What about hair analysis? Isn't that easier?

Hair analysis can be very useful and accurate in detecting the presence of heavy metals and certain minerals in your body. It can also be effective in detecting drug metabolites. But this information is rather limited in its usefulness in establishing broad-based personal nutritional supplementation needs. Incidentally, quite a large amount of hair must be taken in long strips, from close to the scalp.
